Partial replacement of soybean meal with soybean silage in lactating dairy cows diet: part 1, milk production, digestibility, and N balance

چکیده
The high reliance of the European livestock sector on imported soybean meal (SBM), especially from South America, poses environmental problems, like greenhouse gas emissions for transportation and land-use change with loss carbon stock biodiversity. Aim present study was to evaluate partial substitution SBM whole-plant silage in diet dairy cows. Thirty-six lactating Holstein cows were arranged according a change-over design, 2 weeks adaptation 5 days sampling per period. A control (CON) based maize SBM, representing 10.7% total dry matter (DM). In (SBS) 35% (on DM basis) replaced by silage. dietary treatment did not affect intake, milk production, efficiency while fed SBS resulted lower crude protein (3.43 vs. 3.55%, p < .001) higher urea (30.5 28.7 mg/dL, = .002), comparison CON. Nutrients digestibility than CON; particularly fibre 31.5 38.8% (p .001). nitrogen utilisation CON (32.7 31.3%, .003). Soybean penalise feed intake production. However, fully exploit this forage, digestibility, should be improved.HighlightsSoybean can substitute one-third cow dietSoybean inclusion yield DMISoybean reduced N use

Replacing dietary soybean meal with canola meal improves production and efficiency of lactating dairy cows.
Previous research suggested that crude protein (CP) from canola meal (CM) was used more efficiently than CP from solvent soybean meal (SBM) by lactating dairy cows. We tested whether dietary CP content influenced relative effectiveness of equal supplemental CP from either CM or SBM. Fifty lactating Holstein cows were blocked by parity and days in milk into 10 squares (2 squares with ruminal can...

Effects of grass silage and soybean meal supplementation on milk production and milk fatty acid profiles of grazing dairy cows.
The effects of supplementation with grass silage and replacement of some corn in the concentrate with soybean meal (SBM) on milk production, and milk fatty acid (FA) profiles were evaluated in a replicated 4 x 4 Latin square study using 16 dairy cows grazing pasture composed of ryegrass, Kentucky bluegrass, and white clover. Each experimental period lasted for 3 wk. The 4 dietary treatments wer...
متن کاملMilk Production and Composition, and Intake of Holstein Lactating Cows Fed Diets with Partial Substitution of Soybean Meal with Flaked Field Pea
The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of a partial substitution of soybean meal with field pea (Pisum sativum) in Holstein lactating dairy cow diets on dry matter intake, milk yield and composition, blood metabolites, rumen ammonia-N concentration and pH. Eighteen lactating Holstein cows were randomly assigned into three groups based on parity, days in milk, and mil...
متن کاملEffects of Supplementing Xylose‐Treated Soybean Meal or Untreated Corn Gluten Meal to Lactating Dairy Cows
This experiment was performed to investigate whether feeding xylose-treated soybean meal (XSBM) or corn gluten meal (CGM) is economically better under field conditions. Ninety-four multiparous early lactating Holstein cows (55±5 days in milk and 2.82±0.41 body condition score) were used in a completely randomized design. Cows were randomly assigned to one of two treatments: XSBM or CGM as the m...
